This is a list of relevant data conversion
reference projects executed by PDAC utilizing various sophisticated
automation techniques and work processes for the client.
Conversion
of EPC Instrument Database into Commercial System
This is a lump-sum project converting the contents of an instrument
database (datasheets, indexes, loop drawings, and wiring) that was
proprietary to an EPC contractor into a commercially available instrument
database system. The database
consisted of over 25,000 instrument tags, 7500 instrument datasheets and
4800 instrument loop drawings.
As-Built
Update of World Scale Polymers Unit Instrument Database
PDAC completed the as-built update of the instrument database for a
world scale polymers expansion project.
This update was completed using a set of hardcopy markup documents
(instrument datasheets, instrument index, wiring, loop drawings and DCS
configuration) over a period of 60 days.
The instrument database contained more than 45,000 instrument tags,
8300 loop drawings, and 1000 wiring connection drawings.
This scope of work was completed as a lump-sum scope of work.
Electronic
Conversion and Import of Vendor Instrument Datasheets
The scope of work for this project was to convert the electronic data
from a Microsoft Access format into a commercial instrument database
system for more than 6000 instrument tags from several different packaged
equipment vendors. The data
was marshaled from the Access databases and imported into the commercial
instrument database using a data driven method developed by PDAC
specifically for data conversion between disparate data sources and
formats. Formal, hardcopy
datasheets were issued to the client as well as the completed instrument
database.
Merge
of Instrument Databases from two EPC contractors
This was a fixed price effort for which PDAC successfully applied
proprietary software techniques to merge the instrumentation database (RDB,
database, datasheets, indexes, wiring and loop drawings) from the Furnace
EPC contractor with the instrumentation database at the second EPC
contractor located in Canada. The
database merge was completed within original budget, and the two databases
were merged with minimal interruption to the second EPC contractor’s
engineering and design effort.
Copy and Increment of Polyethylene
Reaction Instrumentation
This was a lump-sum effort in which PDAC successfully applied
proprietary software techniques to replicate the instrumentation database
(including instrument datasheets, indexes, wiring reports and loop
drawings) from one polyethylene reaction train to create the second
polyethylene reaction for an LSTK contractor.
All work was completed within the original budget.
Conversion of Legacy Instrument
Datasheets
This was a lump sum project for chemical plant to convert legacy
instrument datasheet data from a variety of dbase II and MS Access
databases into the PDS IDM system. The
project was cancelled by the client before completion, but not before 185
instrument datasheets (three different datasheet formats) were converted
and delivered to the client.
P&ID Update
This was a lump sum project for the update and implementation of
customized capabilities for approximately 150 PDS P&ID’s for an
olefins plant expansion project. For
this effort, PDAC received a set of PDS P&ID’s and RDB that were
originally provided by the managing EPC and updated them to meet the plant
requirements and to implement the client piping line list format.
All work was completed within budget.
Loop Drawing Effort in support of DCS
FAT
This
was a lump sum effort for a major refinery expansion project in Venezuela.
The wiring data from two LSTK contractor instrumentation databases
were updated and merged with information from the DCS contractor
(Honeywell) to support the production of more than 4600 instrument loop
drawings in support of the DCS Factory Acceptance Test.
This effort was completed within the original lump sum budget.
Several potential design errors were detected and avoided during
this effort as a result
Copy and Increment of Ethylene Furnace
Instrumentation
This was a fixed priced effort for which PDAC successfully applied
proprietary software techniques to “multiply” the loops, instruments,
wiring and associated database output (not including instrument loop
drawings) from one ethylene furnace into six other ethylene furnace
designs on an Ethylene project for Nova Chemicals in Canada.
All work was completed within the original budget and schedule.
EPC contractor received an early completion bonus as a result of
this effort.
Loop Drawing Design Effort for Ethylene
Furnaces
This was a fixed price effort for which PDAC supplied expertise and
industry knowledge to integrate DCS configuration data from the DCS
contractor (Honeywell) into the instrumentation database to efficiently
produce the instrument loop drawings for seven ethylene furnaces on an
Ethylene project for Nova Chemicals in Canada.
All work was completed within budget and schedule requirements. |
